Bring back image customization for featured/carousel sections

There used to be a way to edit images in any section, in which toggling on the "custom appearance" would allow you to adjust shadows, borders, etc. of the image. This feature still exists in columns-based sections but, after recent updates, no longer exists in featured or carousel sections. Furthermore, any images that had been customized in these sections have been altered to fit default settings, even though no changes have been made to any sections. While featured sections can be re-made as columns-based sections, there are no alternatives if the section is a carousel. Please bring back this feature - OR enable columns sections to convert to carousel so there is a workaround.
